Innovation Challenge
The Innovation Challenge was an opportunity for innovators to participate in the Home of 2030 project and secure support for further development of their innovations. Winners were announced at the launch of the Home of 2030 design competition by Housing Minister Rt Hon Christopher Pincher MP on 2nd March 2020.
It was open to businesses with systems or products which would address one or more of the following four themes:
Inclusive living: Innovations which allow people to continue living in their homes as their needs change or assist multi-generational living. Winner: K Sockets by Kemuri
Building performance: Innovations which improve the whole life performance of homes. These could either be solutions to reduce the environmental impact of the home in-use, reduce whole life carbon impact or which respond to challenges of climate change. Winner: Zero Bill’s Home
Smart and digital technologies: Usable and useful digital information exchange solutions to support end users and housing owners to manage and operate their asset effectively. Winner: The Hybrid Home by geo
Scalability: Innovations which support an overall ambition to reduce the typical new build cost by up to 20%. Innovations in this category could include process innovation to reduce time and cost of build without compromising construction quality. Winner: Gapotape
Additional Winners TRL3-6
Additional awards have been made for technologies submitted to the Challenge at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3-6, essentially technologies that are not yet market ready but require further development. Congratulations to the organisations below, who have each been awarded £5000 to support their development.

Home of 2030 Innovation Directory
The Home of 2030 Innovation Directory is made up of the eligible businesses who applied to the call, with a ready to market innovation (TRL7 and above), which addressed challenge aims and demonstrated a high level of innovation. The Directory is being provided to design and delivery teams participating in the Home of 2030 Design Competition.
